Who We Are
We like to think of ourselves as modern day merchants of flavour. Founded in 1867, Barbour’s has been passionate about travelling to exotic locations to find the best flavours and the highest quality elements to create our products.
We’re a proud family-owned food processor located in Sussex, New Brunswick with a passion for fine foods and quality products. Specializing in teas, spices, extracts and nut butters made from ingredients sourced from every corner of the world.
Each hand-selected ingredient is brought home to Atlantic Canada where it’s carefully crafted in a state-of-the art facility. Once our products have been meticulously tested and perfected, our favourite part of the process happens - we get to share them with customers across Canada and around the world.
Barbour’s was founded in Saint John New Brunswick by George L and William Barbour in 1867, the same year as Confederation. From the very beginning, Barbour’s has been family-owned and operated and proudly Canadian. These two facts still hold true to this day.
In 1895, George’s son G.E. Barbour purchased the business and in the 1950’s the Brenan family acquired the company. Though the family name may have changed, the tradition of quality we were founded on has been passed along and carefully preserved.
In 1966, Barbour’s moved from Saint John to Sussex, New Brunswick where you can still find us today.
We are committed to crafting high quality products right here in Atlantic Canada, made from ingredients sourced around the world.
Specializing in tea, nut butters, and spices, we take our jobs as merchants of flavour seriously. We’re dedicated to providing great tasting products, made with high standards and delivered with exceptional customer service.
